8th World Congress

On behalf of the IJBRC Executive Committee, we thank the Keynote and Invited Speakers, Presenters of research papers, Exhibitors and Attendees for a very successful 8th World Congress in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.Plans are beginning for the 9th World Congress, location and dates to be determined.Watch the ijbrc.org website for regular updates.


 

 IJBRC History

In 1981, the 1st World Congress on Joints and Bearings was held in Niagara Falls, New Your, USA . This event was to encourage research and better communication between organizations involved in joints and bearings around the world. With the guidance of Stewart C. Watson, Peter Smith, Edward Hourigan and Wayne Hennenburg, a 2nd International Conference was organized and held in San Antonio, Texas, USA in 1986. IJBRC was then formed in affiliation with ACI.

The 3rd World Congress was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1991, followed by the 4th World Congress in Sacramento, California, USA in 1996. With this Congress, came the realization of the importance of a new class of bearings and seismic devices designed to mitigate structural damage from earthquake events.


The next World Congress was held in Europe for the first time. Renamed the 5th World Congress on Joints, Bearings and Seismic Systems it was held in Rome, Italy in 2001.


The 6th World Congress on Joints, Bearings and Seismic Systems returned to North America and was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 2006. The 7th World Congress on Joints, Bearings and Seismic Systems was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA in 2011. The 8th World Congress was held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. in 2016
